egg donor spotlight: donor t

“I put a lot of thought into becoming an egg donor and with an open heart made the decision to happily give someone else a gift they might be struggling with.” – Donor T

What led you to become an Egg Donor?

I always have truly enjoyed helping people. For more than 10 years, I have watched someone I love very much struggle with becoming pregnant. She has a big heart and would do anything for even a stranger. She has been through everything imaginable throughout her life but still remains sweet, humble, and vibrant. It hurt to watch her try everything possible to become pregnant but still not have it happen. She helped raise myself, along with my brothers and sister, my son, and also my six cousins. In hopes of helping, I offered to donate my eggs to her. While she appreciated my offer, she and her husband decided to try a little bit longer. If they were not successful, they would accept my offer. It made me think about how many women could possibly be struggling with this issue. All they needed was someone to raise their hands and say “I’ll help!”

Who was your largest support person(s) throughout your journey?

My entire family! They held my hand throughout his journey, even offering to help with the injections. They always called to check how appointments went. They also sent prayers not only my way, but also toward the Intended Parents.

What made you decide to be closed/semi-open/open with your Intended Parents?

I chose to be anonymous/semi-open with my Intended Parents to respect their privacy. Also, I knew that if there would ever become a point in the future where the parents needed information or help from me, I wanted to be accessible to them, because I would be more than happy to help.

Do you have advice for women who are interested in becoming an Egg Donor?

Donating is such an amazing experience. You are potentially helping a family expand and also helping to fulfill their dreams. My advice is to always have a positive, open mind throughout the entire process. You have to trust the hands you are in. The ENTIRE team at FSC goes above and beyond to help you through the process.
