Egg Donors L. & H. wish to remain anonymous, but were happy to provide us with some insight into their Egg Donation experience.

Many Egg Donors choose a closed (anonymous) arrangement because they are most comfortable with this type of egg donation agreement.  In a closed egg donation situation, the Egg Donor’s identity will be kept confidential. The Recipient Parents will not receive any information identifying the donor. The Recipient(s) will be provided with the donor’s medical and genetic history, physical description, photographs of the potential Donor, and photographs of her child(ren) if she’s willing to share them.

In the case of an Closed Egg Donation arrangement, the Recipient Parents will typically choose an Egg Donor who has similar physical and personal characteristics or perhaps particular traits that are appealing.

I found Family Source Consultants’ website along with a couple others that provided this service, but theirs stood out in reviews as a company I wished to affiliate with. Family Source Consultants’ Jessica Anderson, Executive Assistant, had been a great help and supporter (also) throughout my donation process. She answered my questions and concerns quickly and efficiently, as well as, assured and encouraged me throughout the process. Family Source Consultants is a well-organized and exciting organization to work with.

What led you to become an Egg Donor?

I believe that being able to give back to my community, as I have previously done by donating my hair, is a rewarding experience. Knowing that I was able to provide what one cannot is a heart-warming feeling. I have a BS, but chose to go back to school in order to better my life and career, so I was in need of a little extra finances due to the cost of the BOARDS coming up.

Who was your most significant support person(s) throughout your journey?

A close friend of mine who actually suggested the idea of becoming an egg donor. We were discussing the cost of going back to school and also how I felt after donating my hair, and thought it was a great win-win situation.

What made you decide to be anonymous/semi-open/open with your Intended Parents?

I wanted to remain anonymous / semi-open because I thought it would be easier for the intended parents to have that sense of anonymity, as well as for myself.

Do you have advice for women who are interested in becoming an Egg Donor?

  • Remember why you’re doing this (and then commit).
  • Make sure to have that time in the morning available to go in for regular testing, it’s not something you can miss. Recovery time may differ, so allow the possibility of taking time off from work or school or what-have-you.
  • Drink more water and Gatorade due to the possibility of bloating and / or headaches.
  • Not recommended for those afraid of needles / injections.

FSC was truly wonderful to work with! They were so understanding and accommodating of my traveling lifestyle as a circus performer. Very responsive and always on top of their game! It was truly a pleasure to work with everyone from FSC, especially my go-to gal, Nicole.

What led you to become an Egg Donor?

A friend had gone through the process a couple times, and upon learning that the hormonal medication period was much shorter than I had thought, it seemed like a real possibility!

Who was your most significant support person(s) throughout your journey?

I was very lucky to have numerous support persons. Friends, my partner and my grandmother were all there throughout the journey.

What made you decide to be anonymous/semi-open/open with your Intended Parents?

Ultimately, I decided to leave the decision up to the intended parents. I feel that whatever is going to be the best situation for their family life, is the best decision for the child. I am definitely open to meeting the child one day, but also completely respect privacy if a family chooses.

Nourish your body well in the month leading up to the hormonal medications and give yourself a few days to fully rest afterwards.
