Surrogacy has taken the celebrity world by storm as of late!

Last month, Andy Cohen’s son, Benjamin, was famously born via surrogacy. Now, Real Housewives and recent Celebrity Big Brother competitor, Kandi Burruss, is the next to travel down the road towards a surrogacy birth.

Although she has two biological children in Riley Burruss and Ace Tucker, the second child was facilitated through in vitro fertilization over three years ago. Despite having Ace successfully, health issues have put a halt on further pregnancy outside of surrogacy. However, there’s a silver lining.

“We have girls. We have two embryos that are still left from when we had Ace. So, we have two embryos left and we know they’re girls,” Burruss told Bravo back in November [2018].

These two embryos have made surrogacy a fantastic alternative option to continuing her family. But even with that in mind, the decision to proceed with a surrogate is a powerful one that required a strong emotional commitment.

In a recent episode of Busy Tonight , Burruss reiterated some advice that Cohen shared with her.

“This has been kind of a thing for me and my husband, like, ‘Should we do it? Should we not do it? I had made a comment, I said something about, ‘I guess I’m going to have a baby mama. He [Andy Cohen] said to me, ‘Don’t you ever say that. He was like, ‘Because you are the mother and to say she’s your baby mama? That’s taking away from you.’”

While Kandi Burruss continues to share her story with the world, it’s important to note that hers is just one of countless to come. As a matter of fact, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports that gestational carrier cycles have multiplied over four times within a span of 15 years.

However, this doesn’t at all take away from Kandi’s amazing courage to take a step forward with Andy Cohen in introducing the world to gestational surrogacy.
